Aquaponics is the modern and efficient way in which Coastal Greens Farm combines a hydroponic system (growing plants without soil) and aquaculture (raising fish in contained systems). This hybrid farming method uses less energy, water and growing area than traditional farming techniques of the past. We place a high priority on a sustainable, symbiotic environment growing environment.
Our Aquaponics system mimics natures natural growing cycle, in which a hydroponic system uses nitrates and nitrites to break down fish by-products, providing nutrients for our vegetables. Then, the clean water is recirculated to the aquaculture system, starting the cycle all over again. In our greenhouse, we raise the highest quality fish, along with a wide array of premium vegetables.
